Job Description

Vessel Details:

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Sole Engineer for a 35m+ sail yacht. The yacht operates privately, offering world-cruising opportunities. Presently located in New Zealand, the yacht will spend the next 6 months in Auckland followed by a season in the French Polynesia region with the Owners. The Captain has been onboard for 8 years with the same Owners.

Job Description:

As the ideal candidate, you should possess strong sailing and engineering experience aboard sailing vessels of similar size or larger. Your primary responsibility will involve managing the engineering department, while also assisting wherever needed onboard.

The position presents a fantastic opportunity to join an active, young and dynamic team of 4/5 who have a strong passion for sailing and exploring off the beaten track destinations. The yacht is maintained to a high standard, and as the Engineer in remote locations, you’ll have strong support through designated personnel ashore.

This role is open to Engineers who are in a couple with a Stew/Cook but individual applications are also welcome. The Stew/Cook will work on a rotational basis throughout the year and will be required to come onboard when needed.

The Captain is looking for an Engineer who is looking to commit and provide longevity to the position. In return, the position offers an attractive salary (with bonuses) and leave package that is to be discussed with the Captain at interview stages. The engine size is 331KW.

Required Skills:

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following skills:

– Background in mechanical, diesel, or electrical fields.
– Experience in inventory maintenance.
– Familiarity with IDEA software.
– Organisational skills and time management awareness.
– Strong sailing experience.
